The woman behind the business
I am the creator of ‘The little Maltese chefs’, a mother of two young children, and IÂ recently moved back to Malta after living abroad for more than a decade. I always had a passion for cooking and I love creating dishes from scratch.
When I was living abroad I started to feel homesick so I began making homemade traditional Maltese food from scratch. I made things like Ä bejniet (Maltese goat cheese), Maltese sausage, sundried tomatoes, traditional canned items, pastizzi etc. I would make so many items that it was a little too much for my little family to eat through everything. So, I started to give away food to neighbours and friends.
Every person I shared my food with wanted more. They encouraged me to turn my passion into a business. The word spread quickly and soon enough I had a big demand. I started off by selling small canned items. My close friends knew that I also had a passion for interior decorating so they would ask me if I was willing to host small intimate themed gatherings for them against payment.
Within a matter of months my business grew to a large scale. I started hosting wedding events, bridal showers, birthday parties, intimate dinners, corporate events and so on. I took pride in providing excellent service at affordable prices. I find myself in my element when I’m cooking or decorating and I feel incredibly lucky that I was able to combine my two passions to shape my career.Â

How did the idea of starting The little Maltese chefs come about?
Whenever I am cooking, my two young children, always assist me in the kitchen. We love the process and it has been an amazing bonding experience. Through this experience, I have discovered another part of myself – that I love imparting my culinary skills to young minds. Â
Can you tell us a little about The little Maltese chefs?
Absolutely! I offer cooking classes to children ages 7+ the aim of the classes is to familiarise children with the kitchen and provide them with the tools they need to have, to present a good dish. I aim to provide young children become confident autonomous young chefs.
Recently, I have expanded the classes to also cater for adult cooking workshops. Some of the parents of my current students requested I do a grazing platter workshop. They expressed their interest to join over a glass of wine. On, Friday 14th of April, I will be hosting the first workshop.
